Project Description
What used to be an industrial factory is now a set of shopfronts built by Workit Spaces for small businesses. Hair Boss University, established in 2020 by Cara Clyne is the ultimate bridal hair course.
Taken on by Lisa Hua Design Studio and myself as an intern, the client wanted a space where upon entry, everyone feels like a VIP. It needed to be a space where everyone, staff or client, feels valued and comfortable. The main purpose is a space for bridal hair courses and trials for brides with weddings booked. The secondary purpose is a nail boutique with shared space for assistants to work 1-2 days a week.
The vision for the space was to create a luxurious, world-class education space for hair and makeup artists. By separating the hairdressing chairs from the manicure chairs defines the space, giving it symmetry and the illusion of two studios. The VIP hair dressing chair in the centre of the space, gives clients a luxurious experience and makes them feel valued by the business. Storage was a struggle in a space this size, however, concealing it at the back of the studio gives it a sleek appearance. Doubling the curved wall as storage for nail polish not only is a space saver but also places products on display. The space inspires and nurtures creativity and positivity.
