Project Description
The building serves as a shopping centre with commercial tenancies. However, in 2018 the centre underwent renovations to become a supercentre. 1Six8 Barbershop, established in 2018, will be located on the exterior of The Greenway supercentre.
This project was completed by Lisa Hua Design Studio and myself as an intern. The client wanted a trendy space where their brand could be revamped. The space needed to function as a barber whilst benefitting the community by supporting local events and hosting giveaways.

The vision for the space was an industrial and vibrant space that sparks interest for potential clients passing by. Playing with dynamic strip lighting provides optimal light for the barbers whilst staying within the intended minimal style of the space. The half-height breeze block wall defines the waiting and service areas but also allows room for another 2 barber chairs concealed behind. The identity of the space is defined by the signature cobalt blue neon lighting. The barber shop design is edgy and brings something new and original to The Greenway and Wetherill Park. The space is sleek and modern, providing a collaborative workspace that is fueled by the surrounding community.

SITE LOCATION
Wetherill Park is a community hub located 34 kilometres west of the central Sydney business district. The suburb is becoming home to many supercentres including The Greenway and Stockland.
